Competition information was announced on Saturday, October 13 at Kickoff.
The theme of this year's BEST Robotics Competition is quite complicated: "Space Elavator!" Reach Robotics is racing against time to send the world's first Space Elevator to space and bring up supplies to start building our space station.
For this year's game we will build a Space Elevator robot to transport various objects up the Space Elevator Tower within a time period of three minutes. To score points, our machine must pick up the game pieces and put them in their assigned places. Objects that need to be carried up the tower to be scored include Waste Cargo Balls, Solar Panels, Habitation Module, T-structure, and the Green Fuel Bottle. The Clear Fuel Bottle is the only object that needs to be taken down the tower to be scored, while the Indicator Flag and the Light Cargo Balls may also be scored but do not require being taken up or down the tower.
